Jasper’s Richardson will be hosting a Thirsty Thursday Wine Tasting with wines from Spain. Enjoy passed appetizers as we sample these special wines.

Finca Nueva, Fermentado Barrica 17 – from an area near the village of Navarrete in Rioja Alta, Spain. Golden yellow in color with a soft green highlight. The 2017 barrel-fermented white by Finca Nueva is both soft and powerful on the nose and palate. Exhibiting enticing aromas of exotic fruit, including pineapple and passion fruit, the wine displays round nuances of custard and brioche on the palate. With an enjoyable finish and well-integrated acidity, this wine will pair well with a variety of food.

Sardon, 2016 Quinta Sardonia – The wines produced at Quinta Sardonio are classified as a Vino de la Tierra de Costilla y Leon, or “Wine from the Land of Castillo y Leon” and each bottling is considered to be a multi­terroir, multi-varietal masterpiece,  highly rated and In a class of their own. The 2016 Sardon is fresh, fruity, and aromatic with notes of fresh forest berries, red licorice, chocolate-covered cherries, and sweet spice. On the palate, this wine incredibly layered and complex, going above and beyond what is typically expected from an entry-level Spanish wine.

Terras GaudaUnique and complex, this wine contains enticing notes of ripe peach, mandarin, pineapple, Asian pear, and anise, with hints of jasmine and bay leaf. Incredibly round and fleshy on the mid-palate with mouth-watering acidity, the 2018 Terras Gauda O Rosal is a complex wine that is incredibly enjoyable to drink.

Allende 2011, Rioja – Founded in 1986 by Miguel Angel de Gregorio in the hillside town of Briones, Finca Allende is located in an ancient 17th-century manor, set in a medieval town square within the heart of Rioja Alta. Intense purple in color with powerful and elegant aromas of soft minerals, ink, fresh mint, mulling spice, wild herbs, toffee, and cocoa. On the palate, the wine contains ripe tannins and complex flavors of black fruit, licorice, coffee, and aromatic herbs. Long and persistent, this wine will age well for 15-20 years.
