WHO: Eugene Wine Cellars was conceived by Bruce Biehl in 1998, and in 1999 the “Urban Winery” was established in the Whitaker neighborhood near downtown Eugene, Oregon. The first vintages were bottled and labeled at the winery in the fall of 2001. Bruce and his siblings have been growing wine grapes all over the state since their beginnings in the fall of 1978. They have focused their attention primarily on Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. They also offer a white wine blend and a red wine blend under the label “Recess”. The Recess label was created to acknowledge the many years the family spent in the classrooms as teachers and the awesome work of teachers around the world.
