Kent Rathbun’s Flagship Restaurant Shows Star Power, Recognized for its Dedication to Excellent Food and Service
DALLAS (February 11, 2014) – Abacus is pleased to announce that Forbes Travel Guide has awarded the restaurant Four-Stars in its annual list of the best restaurants in the country. Helmed by Executive Chef Kent Rathbun, Abacus was one of only five Dallas restaurants to receive this honor.
The Forbes Travel Guide has been the gold standard in the hospitality industry since 1958. Restaurants receiving awards are recognized for their creative, complex foods that emphasize various culinary techniques and a focus on seasonality, as well as a highly trained staff that provides refined personal service.
Since opening in 1999, Abacus has received numerous accolades and has been catapulted into the local, regional and national spotlight with industry recognition from Mobile Four-Stars, AAA Four Diamonds, DiRONA, a Five Star rating from the Dallas Morning News and the “Most Popular Restaurant in Dallas” rating by Zagat Survey in 2007 and 2008. Abacus has been featured in publications such as Elle, Southern Living, Veranda, Texas Monthly, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Esquire Magazine, Rosie Magazine and Wine Spectator. The 2014 Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rating shows that Abacus has not slowed down, as the restaurant continues its dedication to impeccable food quality and service.
“From the day we opened our doors, we’ve strived to offer the best restaurant experience in the city,” said Kent Rathbun, Executive Chef and Proprietor of Abacus. “We’re honored to be recognized by Forbes Travel Guide, and we’ll keep working hard to win the approval and respect each day of Dallas and its visitors.”
“Our Star Ratings recognize the finest hotels, restaurants and spas in the world. These
ratings serve as the most authoritative guideposts for guests seeking exceptional travel
experiences. Our primary mission is to contribute to excellence in hospitality, serving the
global tourism industry as well as the guest,” said Gerard J. Inzerillo, Chief Executive
Officer of Forbes Travel Guide. “We’re proud to be associated with the new additions to
our global list.”
